We use torches with slight negative pressure to ignite the fire; we have never used everlasting lamps. The process is: sulfur production furnace--waste heat boiler--chimney.
Use a torch! From the sulfur production furnace – residual boiler – start-up chimney line – chimney. Micro-negative pressure furnace – around 1,000 cubic feet of air flow is sufficient.
A slight negative pressure when starting the furnace seems to be the accepted practice. It’s Of course good to have a startup chimney for the ignition process, but it’s not a problem if one isn’t available. I supply steam to the sulfur cooler but no water; this raises the temperature inside the reactor so that the system temperature exceeds 100 degrees. The temperature of the reactor can also be increased slightly, as long as there is no condensation.
Which company’s technology is used in your devices? They seem quite primitive; these days, don’t furnaces get started automatically through control programs? Is it really necessary to use such complicated methods? Moreover, at the sulfur recovery unit, it is sufficient to discharge the inert gases resulting from combustion directly to the downstream equipment; these inert gases have no adverse effect on the subsequent devices and can also be used to preheat them.
