Currently, to reduce equipment corrosion, acid washers are used in MTBE production – what is the effectiveness of this approach? Is any running?
For oil refining? We are in the chemical industry. Without an acid cleaner, corrosion is quite severe; what’s needed is to increase the replacement of the extraction water. As production continues and the acid groups on the catalyst are lost, the material becomes acidic. To prevent acid corrosion, various measures can be taken, such as adding acid scavengers. However, some chemical manufacturing enterprises are not suitable for using such methods; therefore, most plants still rely on replacing the extraction water
Personally, I think desulfurizers are not very effective; the calculation methods for these desulfurizers are not yet fully developed. At the beginning of their use, they cause the extraction water to become alkaline, leading to severe stress corrosion. Instead, it causes corrosion and leakage of the equipment.
It’s working well; the pH of the water can be kept above 6.5, with the pH level being around 7.5 in the initial stage
The effect is not good; current deacidification technology is not mature
