Interpreting Jiangxi’s Railway 13th Five-Year Plan: High-speed rail construction is a type of railway development, and the construction processes involve tasks such as subgrade work, bridge construction, track installation, and electrical engineering. Different projects require different construction machinery during building, and since bridges account for a large proportion in the construction process. Recently, the **Railway Bureau announced the railway plan for the 13th Five-Year Plan period. According to the plans, a total of 17 railway projects in Jiangxi have been included in the schedule. Among these 17 railway projects are 7 projects including the Wuhan-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway, Jiyongquan Railway, Changji-Ganzhou High-Speed Railway, Hefei-Ankang-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway, and the Menghuai Coal Transport Corridor ; 8 projects including the Nanchang-XiuShui railway, Gan-Shen high-speed railway, Changjinghuang railway, Lu’an-Jingzhou railway, and Yingmei railway ; Two research projects: the Jifu-Wu Railway and the Xingyong-Banggan Railway. The Nanchang-XiuShui intercity railway is included in the new plan as a new project; once it is completed and put into operation, the people of XiuShui will be able to travel by urban rail. According to Xiong Yanbin, the leader of Jiangxi Railway Investment Group, it is planned that by 2020, the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Jiangxi will have a railway network consisting of \"five vertical and five horizontal lines,\" with a total length of railway tracks reaching 5,000 kilometers. High-speed and fast railways will cover the entire region. By then, residents of Nanchang and other cities in the region will be able to travel by urban rail; the journey time to cities such as Shanghai and Guangzhou will be reduced to 3–4 hours, while the trip to Beijing will take only 6 hours. It will also take 1–2 hours to reach the cities in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River from the various cities in Jiangxi Province. “The introduction and implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan for railways play a crucial role in improving Jiangxi’s railway transportation network, enhancing its railway transport capacity, and promoting social and economic development along the railway lines.
