I’m working on a project where the crude oil flow rate is 200 MBD, and I need to convert this value to m³/h. I’m not sure how to do the conversion What would be a suitable diameter after conversion?
What are MB and MBD? MB = thousand barrels, MBD = thousand barrels per day. Here, M refers to thousand, as the Roman letter M denotes thousand (mille), not million in the International System of Units. Million barrels is abbreviated as MMB, while million barrels per day is abbreviated as MMBD
1) How much is 1 barrel exactly? 1 barrel is often abbreviated as 1 bbl. 1 barrel = 158.984 L = 0.159 m3; alternatively, 1 m3 = 6.29 barrels. 1 ton equals 6.29/p barrels, where p is the density of crude oil. Since the density of crude oil varies worldwide between 0.8 and 1.2, on average 1 ton equals 7.4 barrels. So we often roughly say that 7 barrels equal 1 ton. 2) 1 barrel per day is often abbreviated as BPD, bbl/d, bpd, bd, or b/d. In terms of weight, approximately 1 BPD equals 50 t/y (tons per year). That’s why we often say that a certain refining facility has a capacity of 40,000 BPD, which is equivalent to 20 million tons per year.
