At around 3:23 a.m. on November 9th, at the intersection of National Highway 206 and Changyi West Ring Road in Changyi City, Weifang, Shandong, a container semi-trailer collided with a tank truck loaded with 32 tons of diesel. This accident caused the tank truck to explode, resulting in thick smoke and flames that reached heights of over ten meters. The Changyi Public Security Fire Department dispatched 4 fire trucks and over 20 firefighters; in addition, the fire team from the Changyi petrochemical enterprise provided 3 fire trucks and 10 firefighters, who all went to the scene to handle the situation. Upon the arrival of the firefighters at the scene, the on-site commander immediately issued orders to form two assault teams, which set up two fire hoses to suppress the flames near the vehicle on fire. At that moment, the diesel in the tank suddenly spilled, causing the fire to intensify. The fire command officer promptly ordered a retreat to increase the distance from the fire scene, while the firefighters continued to hold their positions to fight the fire. Firefighters used three water guns from the east and west sides to put out the fire and cool down those vehicles; they also used crowbars to break open the container doors in order to extinguish the fire and cool down the tires inside the containers. At 4:50, all open flames at the scene were extinguished. After confirming that the oil tank and the vehicle involved in the accident would not catch fire again, the firefighters gradually withdrew.
