Dear marine friends, are there any specific provisions in the NFPA standard series regarding tank spray and foam fire suppression systems? In China, regulations such as those for oil storage tanks clearly specify which products or tank types are required; do NFPA standards have similar provisions? I’d like to thank you in advance!

For fire protection design in overseas projects, the American fire safety codes from the NFPA series or the British IP CODE are generally used, in conjunction with local standards – though these so-called local standards often rely heavily on NFPA guidelines. NFPA and IP CODE are internationally recognized and enjoy high credibility.
Help the original poster out~ I really hadn’t heard of NFPA before; I just did a search on Baidu and it’s indeed a vast organization.
NFPA11 contains regulations regarding foam systems, while NFPA15 provides guidelines for sprinkling systems in pressurized storage tanks; however, it offers no provisions for atmospheric pressure storage tanks. IP CODE19 does specify requirements for sprinkling systems in atmospheric pressure storage tanks, but I don’t have this standard available, so I’m not sure of the details. I’m not aware whether the original poster’s issue has been resolved. I’m currently working on a project involving overseas tank farms, and I’m also using NFPA and IP CODE standards, but I’m not quite sure how to apply them. I hope to discuss this with the original poster~
There are many NFPA standards that are copied in fire protection fields, but it seems to me that your post is based on API standards. . . So it seems like you asked the wrong standard.
Are there many API standards used in projects in Myanmar?
