There is currently a device with a diameter of 1400 mm; it is vertical in design, with a cylinder height of 2000 mm. The medium used is gasoline, the design pressure is 1.6 MpaG, and the design temperature is 80°C. Could you please advise on how to determine the container category? Thank you
Work pressure and working temperature? Medium components and properties (mainly boiling point)? What is the size of the gas phase space?
Medium-grade gasoline is flammable and explosive. It is classified according to Figure A–1 in Appendix A of the Fixed Volume Code, provided that the operating pressure is greater than or equal to 0.1 MPa.

According to A-1, it seems to fall into Category 2, is that correct?
Two issues need to be clarified: 1. Whether it qualifies as a pressure vessel, with the maximum operating pressure serving as the criterion, rather than the design pressure. 2. The storage medium must be a gas, a liquefied gas, or a liquid whose maximum operating temperature is higher than or equal to its standard boiling point.
Almost full? A filling factor of 1.0 is considered, isn’t that okay? Gasoline is a mixture; it’s incorrect to determine its boiling point – what matters is its boiling range, which is generally between 30 and 190 degrees. With a maximum operating pressure of 0.8 MPa, it definitely falls into this category.
