Today, the inspection personnel requested that surface testing be carried out on Class D welds of the manholes. The drawings require RT testing only for classes AB; no such requirement exists for CD. The inspection personnel stated that for nozzles larger than 250 mm, surface testing of the specified fillet welds is required. I’m looking for the source; where is such a rule? A type of container.
I’ve never heard of it; there’s no such provision in the standard specifications. You can politely ask the inspection personnel about the source of this requirement.
The conditions you mentioned are not comprehensive. There are many requirements for surface inspection; factors such as thickness, material, and medium all need to be taken into account. You can check item by item according to TSG21,3.2.10.2.2.4.
Based on evaluations such as the medium, pressure, and degree of hazard associated with the equipment, some CD-type seals also require surface inspection (PT/MT). It depends on the specific circumstances and requirements.
Check clause 10.4 in GB150.4-2011 to see if there are any applicable items, especially clause j).

It seems that the standards for 150 and the relevant regulations do not specify that surface inspection is required for all Class D vessels with DN>250. However, except in the cases specified in 150.4, items 10.4 a) and b), our institute requires, as a minimum, 100% surface inspection of the fillet joints between the nozzles and the shell, including vessels operating at atmospheric pressure.

If the drawings specify 20% for AB welds, no non-destructive testing for CD is specified. How should non-destructive testing be carried out for Class B joints of fittings smaller than 250 mm? The container is tested at RT 20%; the medium is a type II component.
All tests are at a level that is not lower than the required standard, right?
