The protection rating issue of surface-mounted level switches

External-mounted level switches have an IP protection rating, which is composed of two digits. The first digit indicates the level of protection against dust and foreign objects, while the second digit shows the degree of protection against moisture and water intrusion; the higher the number, the greater the protection level. The “6” in IP65 indicates complete protection against the intrusion of foreign objects, as well as complete prevention of dust from entering ； “5” indicates protection against water sprayed from nozzles in all directions from entering the instrument and causing damage. Note: The first digit after IP indicates the dust protection rating. Rating 6 means protection against foreign objects and dust. In other words, it prevents foreign objects and dust from entering the device. The second digit after IP indicates the water protection rating. Rating 5 means protection against splashing water. This means it prevents water sprayed from various directions from causing damage to the electrical appliance. Rating 7 means protection against submersion in water. It ensures that the device will not be damaged even if it is submerged in water for a certain period of time or under water pressure below a certain level
