The design specifications specified that sealant was required, but the client did not purchase it. Now the client is asking why sealant is needed for this type of insulation What is the specific function of clay?
I’ve never done insulation work. However, the requirements for heat retention are stricter than those for insulation (especially in terms of protection against scalding), and the function of the plaster is also to seal things!
The function of the sealant is to provide waterproofing and sealing for pipes in low-temperature environments. Due to the low temperature of their outer surfaces, moisture in the atmosphere condenses on these surfaces, leading to freezing. If the insulation layer is not sealed, atmospheric moisture will continuously come into contact with the outer surface of the pipes, causing the ice to grow larger and larger, thereby rendering the insulation layer ineffective. But if you properly seal the insulation to prevent moisture from getting in, polyurethane foam should last for about a year.
Well, it’s probably used for waterproof sealing, I guess
