What is the typical required temperature for the mechanical seal flushing water? Which standard should be referenced?
Room temperature should be fine; is there a standard for this?
Rinse water? Does it refer to the quench water in Scheme 61? Is it still the rinse water from Plan 32?
The function of the flushing water is basically twofold: one is to cool, and the other is to clean the sealing surface of the mechanical seal. It’s easy to understand based on these functions!
Room temperature, I guess. If it is sealed water (liquid) in a sealed tank, attention should be paid to temperature changes; the maximum temperature should be kept at 90 degrees, and it is generally advisable not to exceed 80 degrees.
Mechanical seal cooling (at room temperature); disinfection and cleaning at temperatures over 100 degrees is no problem (the pump cannot operate under high-temperature steam disinfection)
The standards are not very clear. Unless it is a special medium [such as crystals], we require the user to use water at room temperature for rinsing. The temperature of the flushing fluid should first be lower than its vaporization temperature, secondly lower than the vaporization temperature of the medium flowing through it. Furthermore, depending on the site conditions, it is advisable to use a medium that is already available on site; a temperature of up to 60 degrees is acceptable.

The cooling water for mechanical pumps generally comes from a circulating water system with a temperature of around 32°C. The flow rate of the cooling water is adjusted so that the temperature of the discharged water is 42°C (the water is warm enough to feel when touched with the hand). The best cooling water effect is achieved when the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet is 8–10°C.
