Hello, everyone! Currently, there are already quite a number of units in China that use wet desulfurization for catalytic cracking flue gas. In the water treatment units (PTUs), most employ diaphragm-type (diaphragm filters) or gravity sedimentation-type (settlers) systems. The issues are as follows: 1. What is the moisture content of the sludge (waste catalyst) in these two methods? 2. If a clarifier is used, what method can be employed for discharging the sludge at the bottom of the clarifier to better control the water content in the catalyst and facilitate its transportation for landfilling? PS: At present, we use a filtration box at the bottom of the clarifier; I believe many manufacturers in China have used this approach. The current problems are as follows: 1. The catalyst contains a high level of moisture, around 70%~80%, and the wastewater also needs to be treated as hazardous waste ; 2. It is difficult to transport the mud filtration box outside; as far as is known in China, there are hardly any companies that are good at handling such transports. I have been thinking about this issue lately. If anyone has useful suggestions or good ideas, please leave a message for discussion – I’m willing to offer rewards!
I’m not from the catalytic cracking industry; is it possible to carry out pressure filtration behind the filter box (using plate-and-frame filters or sealed types)?

The plate and frame filter press has been modified, but manual bagging is required, or a forklift must be used to replace the receiving box regularly (it can typically hold 1 ton). If the upper frame pressing filtration is also done in front of the filtration tank. At the moment, there are no funds available to add a frame press filter.
Our facility uses a clarifier and a filter press. The catalyst with a high water content, located below the clarifier, is pumped using a slurry pump to the filter press for compression. The catalyst sludge resulting from this process has a water content of around 40%. The filter press is equipped with a hopper of its own, capable of holding approximately 10 tons of material
Is the filter press running continuously? Is there a buffer tank at the discharge port at the bottom of the clarifier? How much space does a filter press take up? How many units are set up? The mud can be pumped by the processing unit using a mud pump into buckets for removal
Is the filter press running continuously? It is in good working condition; the frequency of operating the filter press is determined by the amount of sludge at the bottom of the clarifier. Is there a buffer tank at the discharge outlet at the bottom of the clarifier? There is no buffer tank at the discharge port; however, there is a buffer tank for the water that overflows from the top of the clarifier. How much space does the filter press occupy? Not really… it’s probably around 5*10. How many units are there? Should a catalyst with 40% water content be packed in bags or boxes? According to the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency, it must be bagged
Should it be placed on the floor of the filter press? Is the bag a ton bag with a capacity of one ton? Are ton bags loaded with a forklift?
The filter press is placed on a second-floor platform; the mud hopper below it is large, and a dump truck can be used for transportation
Is the transportation by dump truck compliant? According to municipal requirements, a top cover and bottom seal are needed, I guess. Do you also have a slurry filtration tank before the upper pressure filter?
We have no idea about this, as we entrust qualified hazardous waste treatment companies to handle it
