Weekly Sulfur Review: Inventory levels at Puguang rise Author/Source: Date: 2016-05-03 Clicks: 5 Last week (April 23–29), sulfur prices at some domestic refineries were adjusted, but this had little impact on the overall market. Inventory levels at Puguang increased, while the price at Wanzhou Port dropped to 780 yuan per ton; the price in Dazhou remained stable at 740 yuan per ton. Due to maintenance work scheduled for next month, the price adjustment at Wanzhou Port did not have a significant effect on the market. Demand for fertilizer in downstream industries was weak, so traders were not inclined to stock up, and large factories also showed little interest in making purchases. Port inventory levels rose above 1.6 million tons. Speculators were cautious, fearing that prices might fall in the future and thus selling their stocks to realize profits. International sulfur prices have softened, with the domestic spot CIF price falling to 90 dollars per ton, which is equivalent to around 700 yuan per ton – roughly on par with current domestic sulfur prices. Contract prices for the second quarter have dropped significantly: FOB prices in the Middle East have fallen to 68–78 dollars per ton, prices in the U.S. Gulf region have dropped to 65–77 dollars per ton, and CFR prices for Brazil have fallen to 77–89 dollars per ton. It is clear that sulfur prices in international markets are also under pressure. Main domestic sulfur prices: Solid sulfur in the Northeast region at 650–700 yuan/ton, liquid sulfur at 550–600 yuan/ton ; North China solid sulfur: 700–800 yuan per ton; liquid sulfur: 640–690 yuan per ton ; Yanjiang Gusuang: 740-840 yuan/ton ; Shandong Gusuang: 740-800 yuan/ton, liquid sulfur: 680-800 yuan/ton ; Huadong solid sulfonate: 750–870 yuan/ton; liquid sulfonate: 740–820 yuan/ton ; South China Guosulfon: 680–800 yuan/ton ; Southwest solid sulfonate costs 740–780 yuan per ton, while Northwest solid sulfonate costs 650–880 yuan per ton. Regarding ports: The total sulfur inventory at the main port this week is around 1.6 million tons. Nantong Port has a inventory of 510,000 tons; the price for bulk particles is 730 yuan per ton, and deals are finalized at this rate ; The inventory at Zhenjiang Port is around 250,000 tons, with the price of the pellets at 730 yuan per ton ; Qingdao Port has a inventory of 75,000 tons, with the price of block powder at 730 yuan per ton ; The inventory in Fangchenggang is about 570,000 tons, with most of it being transported back to the factories.

Weekly Sulfur Review: Mixed Trends in the North and South – Author/Source: China Fertilizer Network, Date: 2016-05-09, Clicks: 4. This week, sulfur prices at domestic refineries showed mixed trends; the northern market saw mainly upward movements, while the southern market experienced downward trends. The magnitude of these changes was around 10–30 yuan per ton. The price at Puguang dropped by 30 yuan to 750 yuan per ton, while the price at Wanzhou Port fell by 20 yuan to 720 yuan per ton. This drop in Puguang’s price posed a challenge to maintaining stable prices at the ports. At the beginning of the week, the price of granular sulfur at the Yangtze River ports rose to 740–750 yuan per ton; although trading volume was low, prices remained stable. It seems difficult to sustain these high prices at the ports going forward. Following the price cut for Puguang, it will be difficult for traders to sell at high prices; the utilization rate of fertilizer plants downstream is low, with only small-scale purchases by small and medium-sized enterprises. Additionally, the supply of sulfur in the market is abundant, which will dampen the enthusiasm of speculators in the future. This week, overseas prices saw a slight increase; the CIF price in the US market rose by 2 dollars to 70–92 dollars per ton. The FOB price for spot shipments in the Middle East remained stable at 80–85 dollars per ton. Markets in Brazil, India and other regions showed steady performance, providing limited support for the domestic spot market. Main domestic sulfur prices: Solid sulfur in the Northeast region ranges from 650-800 yuan per ton, while liquid sulfur costs 550-600 yuan per ton ; North China solid sulfur: 700–800 yuan/ton; liquid sulfur: 620–690 yuan/ton ; Yanjiang Gusuang: 720-840 yuan/ton ; Shandong Gusuang: 740–830 yuan per ton; liquid sulfur: 710–830 yuan per ton ; Huadong solid sulfonate: 720–870 yuan per ton; liquid sulfonate: 720–820 yuan per ton ; South China Guosulfon: 680–800 yuan/ton ; Southwest solid sulfonate costs 720–750 yuan per ton, while Northwest solid sulfonate costs 650–880 yuan per ton.
