Our factory currently uses K-type thermocouples, and a temperature indicator gauge has been added next to the thermocouples. In other words, the original thermocouple is connected to the temperature sensor through a compensation wire, and the temperature sensor is then connected to the control cabinet. So now I have a question; please help me answer it: From the thermocouple connection to the temperature sensor, will the cold end, which is located inside the explosion-proof enclosure of the temperature sensor, change as temperatures vary due to weather conditions? Could this cause the DCS display to show fluctuations as well? Is the measurement accurate this way?
Temperature transmitters should have cold junction compensation functionality.
The temperature variation features automatic cold-end compensation, which has no impact on the measurement.
Will the cold end inside the temperature-resistant enclosure change with fluctuations in weather temperatures, causing the DCS display to show wave-like variations as well? This won’t happen, because you are connecting it to the temperature sensor using compensation wires; therefore, the temperature inside the explosion-proof box can be ignored. And temperature sensors all have a cold-end compensation function, that is, they contain an internal temperature sensing element such as a thermistor or a heat-sensitive resistor.
Heating is beneficial for the long-distance transmission of signals, as it enhances resistance to interference, since current signals are being transmitted. However, we need to look at things from two perspectives: one is the increase in costs, and the other is that temperature changes themselves can become a source of problems, haha.
