Corrosion of carbon steel by wastewater with high chloride ion concentrations in a strong alkaline environment

Our workshop currently has high-salinity wastewater containing 20% sodium chloride, with a pH of around 10 and a temperature of 100°C. We are considering the use of carbon steel storage tanks – is this feasible? Data indicates that for 20% saline wastewater at a temperature of 100°C, carbon steel equipment is not suitable, but the situation under alkaline conditions is not specified. Literature reviews show that under alkaline conditions, the competition between OH ions and chloride ions can reduce uniform corrosion of carbon steel, but it increases crevice corrosion. Are there any relevant materials I can check? Thank you

Recommendation: 1: Coating the inner wall of storage tanks with vinyl ester resin provides high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, no static electricity, and good thermal conductivity. Cost-effective. 2: Inner wall coating of Hara – resistant to high temperatures, corrosion, static electricity, and has good thermal conductivity. The price is moderate. 3: PTFE-lined inner wall; resistant to high temperatures and corrosion, non-static, good friction properties, poor thermal conductivity, and moderate price.
