I see that some separators have tangential inlets, while others have central inlets. When is a tangential inlet necessary?
The tangential inlet utilizes the principle of centrifugal rotation separation to enhance the separation of gas and liquid.
Tangential entry creates a centrifugal separator, causing the larger particles to be flung out and fall away. . .
Generally, a tangential inlet is used, with no other separation devices employed; this is a relatively crude method of separation. If the equipment is designed with other separation devices, such as hydrocyclones or wire mesh foam eliminators, the nozzles are generally placed in the middle, as it is somewhat difficult to construct tangential inlets for the nozzles.
A tangential inlet should achieve a better separation effect. The flow separates rapidly due to the impact on the wall surface.
It seems someone asked before about cutting the inlet at around 45°C; there are two types of cut surfaces – those facing the inner wall and those facing the center of the cylinder. I’m not sure what the difference is or which type is generally used. Please advise, experts: lol:lol
