Dear experts: I need help. The company has four workshops that are classified as Class A explosion-proof workshops. Most of the power cables for the electrical equipment in these workshops come from cable trays, and previously those cables were enclosed in galvanized pipes. Now a supplier claims that it’s unnecessary to use explosion-proof hoses, arguing that it’s just a waste of money. Is there any explicit regulation requiring the use of such hoses? Most of the company’s equipment is flame-retardant; the inlet points are sealed with flame-resistant material. Is it feasible to use non-flame-resistant hoses or galvanized pipes instead?
Using galvanized pipes gives a neater appearance. If indoors, I prefer not to use explosion-proof hoses; cable sealing connectors for the electrical cables provide better sealing performance than explosion-proof hoses.
As long as you can ensure a seal from the cable tray to the equipment connection point, it’s fine without using explosion-proof hoses.
Previously, our company used explosion-proof hoses to connect the equipment directly, and the sealing performance was certainly poor. Now we are aware of this issue; for devices that are purely flame-retardant, explosion-proof connectors must be used to link the explosion-proof hoses to the equipment. If the wires are exposed directly, isn’t that harmful to them? Our company uses a large amount of organic solvents.

Galvanized pipes are fine; for the connection points where transitions occur, explosion-proof flexible pipes can be used :)
The cable tray itself is not sealed; it’s sufficient to ensure sealing at the points where it connects to the equipment. Sealing at the connections to the cable tray seems unnecessary.
