Our LNG tanks at present are all single-layer protection tanks. Has anyone used double-layer protection tanks or fully protected tanks? What materials are they?
Fully protected tank: A storage tank composed of an inner tank and an outer tank. Both the inner tank and the outer tank are suitable for storing low-temperature frozen liquids. The distance between the inner and outer tanks is 1 to 2 meters, with the tank top supported by the outer tank. Under normal operating conditions, the inner tank stores the low-temperature frozen liquids, while the outer tank can store such liquids as well as prevent the release of gases generated by any leaks from the inner tank.
Single containment tanks, double containment tanks, and full containment tanks are the common terms used in China; in the standards, they are referred to as “single containment, double containment, and full containment”. The specific definitions can be found in the standards, so the original poster can take a look for themselves. Recommended standard: EN 14620
The latter two types of investment must be quite high, right?
May I ask what insulation is currently being used on the outside of the LNG tank in the single-container tank? Is it still necessary to set up cofferdams? Have you ever seen a full-volume tank made of bimetal?
