One of our company’s deaeration towers uses 304-grade trays; the fasteners and floating valves inside it often fall off. What are the common causes of this?
It is caused by oxygen corrosion. Generally, the material used for the trays in AXENS designs is an ALLOY825 alloy coating; yet corrosion remains severe in such cases. Is there no leakage in the heat exchanger at the top of the tower? ? ?
Without a heat exchanger, deionized water is used directly for condensation; the parts that fall down are hardly corroded, and there is a layer of scale on their surface (this scale does not originate from the tower internals but from the tower itself)
In deoxidation towers like the ones we have here, for the upper 1–5 layers where oxygen corrosion is severe, an ALLOY825 nickel-based alloy coating is used
Let’s modify the structure of the deaerator – changing it from vertical to horizontal. Not only does this improve the deoxygenation effect, but it also eliminates the need to use hydrazine
Our deaerator uses low-pressure steam as the gas source, but the gas flow rate is unstable; could this be the reason for the tray detachment?
Our deaerator is a tower with 5 trays; it’s unlikely to be converted to a horizontal design
