Preferred valve usage in different industries 1. Valves for urban gas: Urban gas accounts for 22% of all natural gas applications, resulting in high demand for valves as well as a variety of different types. The primary requirements are ball valves, plug valves, pressure relief valves, and safety valves. 2. Valves for urban heating: In urban heating systems, a large number of metal-sealed butterfly valves, horizontal balance valves, and buried ball valves are required; these valves help to address issues related to longitudinal and lateral hydraulic imbalances in the pipelines, thereby achieving energy savings and thermal balance. 3. Valves for urban construction: The urban construction sector typically uses low-pressure valves, and there is a trend towards using valves that are more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. Environmentally friendly rubber diaphragm valves, balance valves, centerline butterfly valves, and metal-sealed butterfly valves are gradually replacing low-pressure iron gate valves. Valves commonly used in the construction of domestic cities include balance valves, soft-sealed gate valves, butterfly valves, etc. 4. Valves for environmental protection: In China’s environmental protection system, the water supply system primarily requires centerline butterfly valves, soft-sealed gate valves, ball valves, and exhaust valves (used to remove air from the pipelines). Wastewater treatment systems primarily require soft-sealed gate valves and butterfly valves. 5. Valves for long-distance pipelines: Long-distance pipelines mainly handle crude oil, refined products, and natural gas. The valves most commonly used in such pipelines are forged steel three-piece full-bore ball valves, sulfur-resistant flat gate valves, safety valves, and check valves. 6. Valves for petrochemical equipment: a. In oil refining equipment, the valves used are mostly pipeline valves, including gate valves, globe valves, check valves, safety valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, and steam traps. Among these, gate valves account for around 80% of the total number of valves; valves constitute 3% to 5% of the total investment in such equipment. b. Fiber optic equipment; the main fiber optic products fall into three categories: polyester, acrylic, and vinylon. The valves required include ball valves and jacketed valves (jacketed ball valves, jacketed gate valves, jacketed globe valves). c. Acrylonitrile equipment. This equipment typically requires valves manufactured in accordance with API standards, mainly gate valves, globe valves, check valves, ball valves, steam traps, needle valves, and plug valves; among these, gate valves account for around 75% of the total number of valves. d. Ammonia synthesis equipment. Because the raw materials for ammonia synthesis and the purification methods are different, the process flows vary, and the technical requirements for the valves used also differ. Currently, the primary valves required for ammonia synthesis equipment in China are gate valves, globe valves, check valves, steam traps, butterfly valves, ball valves, diaphragm valves, control valves, needle valves, safety valves, and high/low temperature valves. During this period, globe valves accounted for 53.4% of all valves used in equipment, gate valves made up 25.1%, steam traps accounted for 7.7%, safety valves accounted for 2.4%, while control valves, cryogenic valves, and others accounted for 11.4%. e) Ethylene equipment: Ethylene equipment is a key component in the petrochemical industry, and it requires a wide variety of valves. Gate valves, globe valves, check valves, and lift-type ball valves make up the majority, among which gate valves come first. “Otherwise, large-scale ethylene and high-pressure polyethylene equipment also requires ultra-high temperatures, as well as valve products designed for low temperatures and ultra-high pressures. f. Valves for power plants: The construction of power plants in China is moving toward larger scales, which requires the use of safety valves, pressure relief valves, globe valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, emergency shut-off valves, as well as flow control valves and sphere-sealed globe valves with large diameters and high pressures. 8. Valves for metallurgy: In the aluminum oxide industry, wear-resistant slurry valves (in the form of flow control globe valves) and regulating steam traps are primarily required. The steelmaking industry primarily requires metal-sealed ball valves, butterfly valves, oxidation ball valves, globe valves, and four-way directional control valves. 9. Valves for ocean pipelines: As offshore oil field development progresses, the demand for valves in these oceanic applications also increases gradually. Oceanic channels require shut-off ball valves, check valves, and multi-way valves. 10. Valves for food and pharmaceutical use: This industry primarily requires stainless steel ball valves, non-toxic all-plastic ball valves, and butterfly valves. Among these 10 major categories of valve products, general-purpose valves are in higher demand, such as globe valves, needle valves, gate valves, stop valves, check valves, ball valves, and butterfly valves.
