Our company uses Lurgi’s 7-tower process for low-temperature methanol washing; the hydrogen sulfide concentration in the exhaust gas is around 100 ppm, which results in a strong unpleasant odor in the exhaust. Do any of you who work in this industry have any methods to eliminate this odor? Help provide some ideas, as well as any good experiences with modifications that can be shared.
1. Adjust the flow rate of the lower column of the methanol scrubber tower (Tower 1). That is, to ensure the total sulfur level of the purified gas, the flow rate of sulfur-free methanol should be allocated reasonably. 2. Allocate the flow of sulfur-free methanol in the CO2 desorption tower and the hydrogen sulfide concentration tower reasonably.
If the absorption level is adjusted to the optimal value first, then only the wash tower can be adjusted; our target is 10 ppm, with a typical value of around 5
Are the CO2 product tower and the CO2 exhaust tower of the original poster combined or separated into two? We also have a Lurgi 7-tower system, where they are combined, and there are two streams of exhaust gas; I’m not sure which type you are referring to
To determine the issue specifically, the operating parameters of the device are required; providing a screenshot of the DCS operation screen will facilitate the assessment.
OP, do you also vent the exhaust gases on-site?
