If the tube bundle of the overhead cooler in the vapor fraction propane removal tower leaks, how can we determine that a leak has occurred? If anyone has personal experience, please share it. Thank you, extra points
Measure the total hydrocarbons of volatile gases in the circulating return water
In the case of water cooling, propane will enter the water; this can be easily detected by opening the circulating water outlet and checking for condensation.
Can it be determined from the computer DCS?
The DCS cannot detect this, unless the leakage is severe, causing a drop in the pressure of the propane tower and an increase in the pressure of the circulating return water. Prolonged leakage can lead to a decline in the quality of circulating water and eutrophication; algae will grow as soon as the flow stops
