Is there a good way to prevent coking in the pre-hydrogenation unit of a reforming unit?

Is there scaling in the pre-hydrogenation reactor? Or a bird’s nest protector; if the pressure difference is sufficient and its activity meets the requirements, it can be continued to be used

1. The main impurities to be controlled in the raw materials are metal impurities. If it is possible to supply the raw materials directly, that should be preferred; if not, it is advisable to have the tank area cleaned regularly at the bottom of the tanks. Nitrogen protection should be maintained at all times, and the buffer tanks within the facility should have their water removal and waste discharge systems improved. 2. A fouling basket must be installed in the pre-hydrogenation reactor. Many designs of pre-hydrogenation reactors do not include such a basket and instead use protectants; however, it has been proven that these protectants have very weak capabilities in preventing coking and fouling. A fouling basket is necessary to ensure long-term stable operation of the pre-hydrogenation process. The reactor was operated with a scale basket and ceramic balls for nearly two years before the first cleaning was required. After removing the scale basket and using a protective agent, it was operated for another half year before a second cleaning was needed. The scale basket was then reinstalled, and the reactor was operated for another year without any increase in pressure difference. 3. It is also important to control the olefin content in the raw materials.
Jiguoblan is designed to trap sediment and debris in oil, but currently, the Bird’s Nest protector is more commonly used, and it offers better results than Jiguoblan
Have you used a bird’s nest protector? How often should the head be removed during pre-hydrogenation? I believe that the scale collection basket not only serves to trap debris but also helps to increase the depth of protection. Based on my experience, the devices that supply material from the tank area contain a high amount of metal impurities; after some time of operation, a hard layer forms at the top of the reactor. This hard layer is made up of flaky substances that no protective agent can absorb.
6-12 months, I guess. We added a deoxygenation tower and used protective agents, which made a big difference. The problem is that the deoxygenation tower is suffering from severe corrosion, and we can’t afford to replace the filter elements
