To which category do the longitudinal and transverse butt welds between the upper wall panels of a rectangular container belong? If it is a circular cylinder, the circumferential seam is classified as Type B; then for rectangular containers, are both the transverse and longitudinal seams considered longitudinal seams (Type A)?
The pressure in rectangular containers is not high, and the transverse stress and longitudinal stress are related to the dimensions, namely length and height; there is no 2-fold relationship between them. It cannot be represented by Class A or Class B.
