As the title suggests, I have a question for everyone: is there a simple way to reduce the outer diameter of one end of a Φ22×0.8 tube to Φ20, so that two Φ22 tubes can be connected to each other? The tubes are used as supports; no medium flows through them, so there is no need to worry about leaks after connection.
What does that mean? How can a 22mm tube become a 20mm tube, and then be inserted into another 22mm tube? Not under pressure? As long as it’s connected at the proper position, won’t there be a risk of leakage? A simple method: use a hammer to strike it. Take an 18-inch iron rod, insert it into a 22-inch tube, and then strike it with a loud bang.
Maybe there’s something wrong with my description... The tube, which doesn’t contain any medium, is used only as a support, so there’s no need to worry about leaks. I’m just wondering if there’s a simple way to compress one end of a tube with an outer diameter of 22 and a wall thickness of 0.8 so that its outer radius becomes 20.
What about the materials? I think it’s unlikely; the actual inner diameter of this tube is 22 – 0.8*2 = 20.4, which is larger than yours. Heat it over a fire, then hit it with a hammer!
It’s made of carbon steel; I saw such pipes on the market a few days ago, but I really can’t figure out how they’re made. This problem has been bothering me for several days now, and I feel there must be some simple solution, but I just can’t think of it, which is why I can’t even sleep: lol. I found online that there’s a device called a tube reducer, but those machines are used for processing large-diameter pipes, so it surely shouldn’t be that complicated for these small-diameter pipes. I’ve considered using hydraulic pliers, but I’m not sure if that’s the right approach
Uh, which type of pipe? One end bigger and the other smaller? The 5\" pipes used for offshore drilling have their large ends joined by friction welding.
I regret not taking a photo at the time; what I saw was a frame made of tubes, with the entire frame being constructed from tubes of the same specification – 22*0.8. The tubes were connected to each other using a plug-in method (the outer diameter of the connected end of one tube was reduced and inserted into another tube that did not have such a reduction). I don’t understand now what material was used to make that tapered tube.
:Dizzy: It’s just an ordinary pipe; the standard specifications are roughly 22*0.8. You’re really confusing me with all your questions. It must be some homemade method of processing, but the idea of using a hammer to strike things randomly seems to give me a clue: lol
A 22-inch pipe, a 1/2\" fluid pipe – standard specifications. . . Do you need to connect these two pipes? Can we weld them? Can I use a card sleeve?
Stubborn, why do you have to insist on doing something to the death? Threads can be machined using short-circuiting; wouldn’t it be better to use threaded connections, which facilitate disassembly, assembly, and modification? If the conditions aren’t met, use a welding torch to heat it and then hit it with a hammer to create a taper.

If the manufacturing process is complicated, it will not only make processing more difficult but also increase costs……
