For the general parameters of performance testing on water pumps, I am aware of things such as power, efficiency, curves showing head and flow rate, as well as vibration levels. Performance test requirements for pumps and turbines: (1) Strict compliance with API610 is required; (2) Minimum continuous stable flow rate (from the start of the allowable operating range) (3) Between 95% and 99% of the rated flow rate (4) Between the rated flow rate and 105% of the rated flow rate (5) Near the optimal efficiency flow rate (if the rated flow rate is within 5% of the optimal efficiency flow rate) (6) The extreme limits of the allowable operating range ; (7) Mechanical operation test in accordance with API 610 (11th edition), Section 8.3.4.2 ; (8) The testing of the complete unit shall be carried out in accordance with Section 8.3.4.4 of API 610 (11th edition); the performance tests of the pump unit shall be conducted using the pumps, motors, gearboxes, clutches, and high-pressure hydraulic turbines provided by the supplier’s factory. (9) Conduct motor inspection tests and type tests at the motor supplier’s factory in accordance with IEC standards and the motor supplier’s standards.
The cavitation margin test is a separate test and is not included in the performance tests. It depends on the requirements in the contract; not all pumps need to be done. Generally, when the difference between NPSHa and NPSHr is less than 1 meter, an erosion margin test requiring on-site verification is necessary.
