When producing sodium hypochlorite from liquid chlorine, it is not necessary for the liquid chlorine to be vaporized (as it used to be required to be converted into chlorine gas) in order to produce sodium hypochlorite; this method has its advantages and disadvantages (safety, production efficiency, quality)
We generally use chlorine for production; the efficiency and quality of liquid chlorine production are certainly higher, but the safety requirements are much stricter
But the workshop I visited didn’t have anything at all, just a scale; there was nothing else related to liquid chlorine?
Isn’t reacting directly with liquid chlorine a bit too intense? The reaction temperature must be difficult to control, right? If the temperature is too high, it can damage the reactor; it might work for producing sodium chlorate.
Is it permissible to directly supply gas from a cylinder into it in this way?
Is the safety level poor? How can we prevent the reaction mixture from being drawn back into the liquid chlorine cylinders? Is it a check valve used to prevent backflow?
The safety level is definitely poor; it is best to avoid direct contact between the reaction solution and the liquid chlorine cylinders. A buffer tank and a vaporizer need to be added in the middle.
