What is the difference between a diesel pump and a water pump? What are the differences in principle and selection? :) Which are the well-known manufacturers of diesel pumps?
Please provide the operating conditions; this question is a bit too general. Different types of pumps can be chosen depending on various requirements, such as flow rate, head, inlet and outlet pressures, temperature, medium density, and so on – all of these factors need to be taken into consideration

For example, apart from the need for diesel pumps to be corrosion-resistant and explosion-proof, what other differences exist? For example, if I need a pump like this, how should I choose? 1. Purpose and type: Fuel supply ; Centrifugal, vertical submersible pump 2, Flow rate: 2L/S ; 3. Head: 50M ; 4. Materials of various pump components: ? ; (What are the options?) 5. Motor power consumption: 2.2KW ; 6. Motor power supply: 3/380/50 ; 7. Motor type: TEFC (fully enclosed fan-cooled) ; 8. Fluid medium: Diesel
It must be taken into consideration; how can you make a choice without knowing the flow rate and head requirements? For low flow rates but high head, you certainly can’t use a regular centrifugal pump. For high flow rates, piston pumps or gear pumps would be more suitable. Additionally, there are the requirements related to the operating environment: what is the explosion protection rating, what type of explosion protection is needed, and whether enhanced safety or flame isolation is required? The price differences in these cases can be significant. Also, whether you operate it continuously or intermittently, what your budget is, and so on – these are all factors to consider when making a selection

In the selection of mechanical pumps, pumps designed for light to moderate loads are often used; standards such as SH 3140, ISO5199, and GB 5659 are applied in this context. Since the fluid pumped by diesel pumps is flammable and explosive, these pumps need to be more reliable, and in chemical industry applications they are classified as \"heavy-duty pumps\"; standards such as SH 3139 or API 610 are then used. There are many detailed differences among these pump types; for example, the minimum pressure rating for the casing in API 610 is 300 lb, and the casing is much thicker than that of ordinary water pumps ; Organic solvents can cause swelling in many types of rubber, plastics, and similar materials; therefore, careful consideration must be given when selecting materials for gaskets, seals, and similar components ; SH 3139 and API 610 require pumps to be able to operate continuously for over 3 years, while ordinary water pumps may last around 8,000 hours. Of course, some applications have strict requirements; even ordinary water pumps are required to meet API 610 standards in such cases, and that’s a different matter.

A centrifugal pump with a low flow rate should be sufficient for this purpose. Depending on the medium being transported, centrifugal pumps are generally used for water pumps; if the viscosity of the diesel is high, it is recommended to use screw pumps
Do diesel pumps belong to fire pumps? Is a 3C required?
