Question: Why are welded steel pipes, especially those with spiral welds, preferred over seamless steel pipes for natural gas transmission (high pressure) in our country?
It’s probably still a cost issue; I’m not familiar with this. I hope the experts can offer their criticism and guidance
The pipe diameter is large, so using seamless pipes results in high costs
In my humble opinion, it’s a cost issue; in other words, if welded pipes meet the required standards, there is no need to use seamless pipes.
