Dear sea friends: Regarding the regulations for pressure gauges, it is stated that “Gauges shall be capable of withstanding intermittent over-range of 1.3 times the maximum scale reading without shift of zero or span.” What does “without shift of zero or span” mean?
““without shift of zero or span” —— zero and full scale, no drift
The whole sentence can be roughly translated as: Under an intermittent overpressure of 1.3 times, the instrument’s performance must ensure that there is no deviation at either the zero or full scale.
