Natural gas is a mixture whose main component is methane; the composition of this mixture remains within certain limits. Then, ρ = m/V = nM/(nV) = M/Vm = pM/(RT). Converting to standard units: T = (40 + 273.15) K = 313.15 K; p = (0.4 + 0.1) * 10^6 Pa = 500,000 Pa. Since M = 17 g/mol = 0.017 kg/mol, we have ρ = 500,000 * 0.017 / (8.315 * 313.15) kg/m^3 = 3.26 kg/m^3
