Are there any differences in equipment selection and operating parameters for coking electrodesalination? The density of residue is higher than that of crude oil; isn’t it difficult to control the electrical demulsification threshold? Is there any difference in the choice of demulsifiers compared to those used for crude oil electrical demulsification? Thank you. . .
The density of residue oil can be higher than that of water; how can it be completely separated after water is injected? Can the water content after separation remain within acceptable levels? :)
Electrodesalting is used in the processing of crude oil, and it serves as a channel in the processing of residue oil. No water or chemicals are added, nor is electricity supplied.
The residue has too high viscosity, and the density difference between oil and water is small, making separation difficult. Due to the constraints on the insulation suspension of the electric desalination motor, the temperature cannot exceed 145°C. It is hard to imagine electrodialysis for residue alone. Perhaps using a diluent is one method, just like with crude oil. Of course, choosing the right demulsifier is important; it certainly differs from that used for crude oil.
Conventional electrodesalination techniques certainly won’t work; membrane-based, pulse, and dual-electric-field technologies could be considered – they might work after all. It’s necessary to conduct thorough research before making a decision
I’ve heard of electrodesalination being used in catalysis; is it now being applied in coking as well? Is it universal?
