Hello everyone, after performing the verification using HTRI, where can I find the required heat exchange area? I see that in the TEMA table there is only the area of one heat exchanger listed; just as there are values for the required heat transfer coefficient and the actual heat transfer coefficient in that table. Thank you

It should be the area required over time, after deducting the amount of excess; Or by dividing the heat load by the required heat transfer coefficient, you can calculate it yourself, right?
Well, thank you. I was just wondering why there isn’t that area. This is how I do it at the moment, but with a set of equipment containing dozens of heat exchangers, it takes quite a lot of time to calculate everything manually so that the client can understand it clearly
You can use Excel to create a table, enter a simple formula, and then by dragging, all the heat exchange areas will be automatically calculated; it’s also easier to see everything in one table~
It seems there’s nothing else to do for now; indeed, the HTRI calculations don’t show any required heat exchange area, right?
I’m also a beginner when it comes to using HTRI; I used it to calculate the heat exchange area of a heat exchanger a year ago, but I can’t remember anything about it now. As the person above said, the actual heat exchange area is simply the result minus that 20% margin – it’s a very simple formula, just a matter of conversion. It’s probably too simple, so the engineers who developed HTRI felt there was no need to include that factor (after all, a margin is necessary when designing heat exchangers, so including it wouldn’t be very useful). By the way, you can set the margin to 0, and then the result you get will be the actual heat exchange area. In fact, that result isn’t very meaningful; after all, the heat transfer coefficient is just an estimate, and it is only when a margin is added that the result gains practical significance.
