Personally, I think it doesn’t matter whether there are seams or not; it depends on the type of pipe being used. For example, there are seam pipes, as well as seam elbows that are extruded.
The naming of materials in SMEASTM/ASME/ANSI is standardized, all referring to ASTM regulations. There is no specified format; only size requirements.
