Seeking advice from experts: For Rosemount differential pressure transmitters, when the new unit is powered on and set to zero, it shows 38.26 Kpa. The 475 tool cannot be used to reset it, as it keeps displaying “applied process too high”
Is it a gauge pressure transmitter? You have performed the zero trim operation; please send over the model number
If I’m right, then use Emerson’s 475 to restore the factory settings of the instrument. If that works, great; if not, send it back to the factory. It should be possible to fix it in either case. If there is no Emerson handheld controller, then return it to the factory directly
It is beyond the zero-reset range. Otherwise, return it and get one with a larger range. If it can’t be returned, you’ll have to install the header one meter higher; that should work pretty well.
Before calibration, ensure that the positive and negative pressure chambers are connected to the atmosphere or at zero pressure, and confirm that there are no foreign objects in each interface. If all these are good and in order, then you can use a method of gradual zeroing at multiple points. Apply positive pressure to the negative pressure setting in order to reduce the difference between positive and negative pressures for zeroing; then remove the negative pressure and measure the pressure to perform zeroing. It is also possible to apply negative pressure to the positive-pressure side. If there is no pressurization tool, you can use your mouth to suck on the positive-pressure side or blow on the negative-pressure side.
Answer 6# is correct; in this case, only migration settings can be made.
Check whether the lower limit setting is indeed 38.26 Kpa; the lower limit must be set to 0 in order to reset it. If not, return it without hesitation. It’s already faulty; migrating it for use is not recommended – it’s a risky move.
