Difference between TH and PAD SO25(B)-16RF: Meaning SO: Butt weld with neck PL: Plate butt weld WN: Butt weld with neck IF: Full penetration SW: Socket weld BL: Flanged cover BL(S): Lined flange TH: Threaded flange PJ/SE: Welded ring loose flange PJ/RJ: Butt weld loose flange PAD: Bolt holes are threaded holes
It’s a bit off-topic. It is recommended to change the title to Several Connection Methods of Flanges and the Differences between TH and PAD
TH: A threaded flange refers to a flange that is connected to a pipe via threads; PAD: The flange is a raised-flange type, and the bolt holes are threaded holes. The thread positions referred to by the two are different.
@Yimi invites you in to discuss it.
This post was last edited by Yimi on 2014-12-31 22:29. There was a typo earlier; it is in agreement with what was said on floor 3. I’ve never seen the flanges for PAD; I’ve read the previous discussions on the forum and understand somewhat that they are probably not used for pipe flanges, but rather for equipment (or instruments, valve structures – I’m not entirely sure), and no relevant standards could be found either. Personally, I think PADs and TH (threaded) flanges hardly ever overlap in terms of usage, so there’s no need to compare them. @Boyirensheng, I’ll @ you too. Bo Yi** is very knowledgeable; please tell us more about PAD flanges. Seeking solutions and diagrams: lol
Agreed; 1314 is also right. The original poster listed them as items for sharing and didn’t feel comfortable saying anything. PADs are generally used for processing drawings, while the others can be assigned standard numbers

Just upload the image. The one below is a TH flange, meaning that the connection holes are threaded. The one below represents the flange used for connecting the valve seat; the part shown there is a PAD flange, with its bolt holes also being threaded
