According to building fire protection codes, activated carbon is considered a combustible solid, classified as Category C; the entire installation is also classified as Category C. However, according to the petrochemical regulations, flammable liquids with a flash point of 690 to 120 degrees are classified as Class C A, while those with a flash point above 120 degrees are classified as Class C B. There is no information here indicating whether the activated carbon belongs to type A or type B; moreover, the distance between the adsorption unit and other equipment cannot be determined using the tables provided in the petrochemical industry standards. I’m not sure how to resolve this issue!
In the workshop or outside? If it’s placed outside, it has to comply with petrochemical regulations
For placement outside the workshop, the petrochemical regulations should be followed, that’s correct. However, regarding the spacing requirements from other equipment in the workshop, what guidelines should be applied? Table 4.5.1 of the petrochemical regulations does not include a corresponding category for adsorption devices!
