The minimum operating temperature for ASTM A333 Gr.6 is -30°C; therefore, 16MnD material can be used as a substitute. It is important to ensure that the manganese content meets the requirements specified in ASTM A420 WPL6, which is 0.50%-1.35%. This aspect must be taken into account when using 16MnD as a substitute. According to ASME standards, ASTM A420 WPL6 must undergo low-temperature impact testing at -45°C, rather than -40°C, with an average impact value of more than 18 J.)
