The \"SH3136-2003 Safety Design Code for Spherical Storage Tanks of Liquefied Hydrocarbons\" requires that gate valves and ball valves used as shut-off valves shall be equipped with a pressure relief mechanism in their valve chambers. I’m seeking help from fellow sailors: what is a valve chamber pressure relief mechanism? How many different types of such mechanisms exist, and how can one tell, by looking at its appearance, whether it has a valve chamber pressure relief mechanism? It is best to bring a structural diagram and a physical image. Not very grateful
Plate gate valves can release pressure through the valve seat, while wedge gate valves generally have holes drilled in the inlet gate plate for pressure release; automatic pressure relief valves are rarely used for this purpose. Ball valves and SPE valves can release pressure via their own valve seats, and ball valves with two DPE valve seats can use automatic pressure relief valves for pressure release.
