We usually apply anti-corrosion treatments there; in over a decade of experience we’ve never seen a situation like yours. It doesn’t really matter whether there are compensators or not. I guess there’s air inside, and there’s no vent at the surface. When the container is filled with liquid properly, corrosion doesn’t reach such an extent, and the welds won’t crack either. It is recommended to apply anti-corrosion treatment to the welds; this is simple and inexpensive. A vent should also be provided on the floor-level condensate tank.
