Hello, everyone. I have a question I’m not sure about, and I would like to ask you all for your advice. I hope you’ll be kind enough to help me. Details: 1. Currently, our factory wants to install an orifice plate flow meter after the pipeline coming from the steam cylinder, in order to display the flow rate and facilitate operation by the workers. 2. The saturated steam pressure in the steam cylinder is approximately 1.0 Mpa at 175 degrees Celsius. After exiting the cylinder, the steam passes through a regular globe valve; the opening degree of this valve is not large, and the pressure after it is around 0.2–0.3 Mpa. What will be the temperature after the globe valve? ? Is it the same as the temperature inside the steam distribution cylinder (around 175 degrees Celsius), or is it 125 degrees Celsius according to the saturated steam pressure table? 3. When purchasing orifice plate flow meters now, we need to take another look at this parameter. I would really like to ask everyone for their advice on this. Thank you.
When steam is depressurized through a valve, its pressure drops, its volume expands, and its temperature decreases accordingly; the temperature corresponding to that pressure can be found by consulting a saturated steam table.
The temperature drops after throttling and pressure reduction via the valve; I agree with the opinion above.
