I recently came across a calculation sheet from a foreign manufacturer of plate heat exchangers. For a DN100 diameter, with 5.2 tons per hour of saturated steam at 120 degrees Celsius, the flow velocity at the pipe inlet was estimated to be around 160. I would like to ask the experts here: what are the potential hazards of this?
The flow channels inside a plate heat exchanger are narrow, unlike those in a shell and tube heat exchanger. The flow rate is high, resulting in stronger condensation heat transfer.
