I have a question regarding the use of metal wound gaskets

I would like to ask those of you who are involved in on-site construction and production: are metal wound gaskets used only once and then discarded, or can they be reused several times? How much margin should be considered for design cutting? Do most of the components need to be replaced after pressure testing and purging? Thank you
It breaks easily; in a recent project, after removing a manhole, the metal wound gasket was damaged
Look at the shape of the groove: if there are edges on both sides of the groove, then the gasket won’t come apart and can be used again. If there is an edge only on one side of the groove with the shaft on the other side, the graphite will basically fall apart as soon as it’s removed, in which case it can no longer be used and a new gasket must be installed
Reuse is not recommended; cost and reliability make the latter the better choice
