Do bolts used for flange connections count as pipe fittings? Is chromatographic analysis required by the construction party during material acceptance?
Bolts used for flange connections are considered pipe fittings. Whether spectral analysis of these bolts falls within the responsibilities of the construction contractor depends on the terms of the construction contract; it cannot be generalized. If the owner purchases them, the contract usually covers only the costs related to procurement and inspection, but not the costs of physical and chemical analysis. If the contractor purchases the materials himself, and the owner believes that the quality of those materials is not appropriate, samples can be taken for testing to verify whether they match the specifications provided by the contractor. The costs associated with such testing are included in the material costs and should be borne by the contractor.
