The drum drain water with a flow rate of 1 t/h (operating pressure of 3.5 Mpa and operating temperature of 243°C) is to be used as the steam desuperheating water at 1.0 Mpa and 240°C; the steam is to be cooled to 210 degrees Celsius. Initially, it was planned to use a desuperheater for this purpose, but the operating temperature of the drain water pipeline is 254°C with a pressure of 4.2 Mpa, so a desuperheater cannot be used. Is it still possible to carry out this project? The owner suggests directly feeding water in through a rotameter to control the flow rate. If this approach isn’t feasible, please explain why. If it is possible, please provide a solution. The current steam flow rate is between 10 and 20 tons, with pipelines of DN 300
It would be best to have a schematic diagram as a reference for the discussion. If the goal is simply to reduce temperature, there are many methods available: it can be achieved by mixing directly with cold water, or through indirect heat exchangers. Those who still don’t understand the question, please explain it clearly.

Boiler feed water with a pressure rating higher than 1 Mpa can be directly used for cooling through a mixer. However, even the water temperature in the drainage pipes is relatively high, so it cannot be used directly for cooling to 210°C; it is not certain that the temperature can be reduced to that level. To use the water from the drainage pipeline for cooling, its temperature needs to be lowered.
