How to deal with external corrosion of steam pipes, and how to prevent corrosion after installation.
External corrosion of steam pipes is a common problem, and the solutions include the following: 1. Surface coating: Anti-corrosion paint or coatings can be applied to the outer surface of steam pipes to prevent corrosive substances from damaging them. Common coating materials include epoxy resin, polyurethane, etc. 2. Protective layer: An additional protective layer can be applied over the coating, using materials such as plastic or polyethylene, to provide extra protection. 3. Anodic protection: By installing a metal anode layer on the pipeline, the corrosion of the anode metal is utilized to protect the surface of the pipeline. 4. Regular maintenance: Periodically check whether the coating on the outer surface of the steam pipes is damaged, and repair any damaged areas promptly to ensure the integrity of the anti-corrosion layer. The methods mentioned above are only for dealing with external corrosion; for internal corrosion, measures such as water quality treatment and pipeline cleaning also need to be considered. After installation, regular inspection and maintenance are crucial to ensure the proper operation and service life of the steam pipes. .
How does external corrosion occur in steam pipes? Steam pipes are generally made of carbon steel, and insulation is required after installation. Since the pipes operate in high-temperature, dry environments, how can corrosion occur? If you want to use external anti-corrosion, that’s fine. Using high-temperature resistant paint has limited effectiveness.
Just apply the primer! One or two layers are acceptable; the thickness of the paint film must meet the specified requirements, and the paint grade should be determined based on the steam temperature
Stop talking nonsense. “Apply anti-corrosion paint or coating to the outer surface of the steam pipes”? Do you know how high the temperatures have to be?

Steam pipes usually have insulation layers; if the outer layer of such pipes is corroded, it indicates that external environmental factors or issues related to the insulation layer are causing corrosion of the steam pipes. Those who suggest painting the pipes or using plastic or polyethylene materials for protection probably have no idea how high the temperature of the metal outer surface of steam pipes can be – maybe they think that temperature is similar to that of a pressure cooker at home? It is necessary to first figure out the cause of corrosion before taking appropriate action.
Has it been put into operation after installation? What is the current temperature of the pipeline, and what is the temperature once it is in operation? To what extent is the outer wall of the pipeline corroded at present, and is it feasible to remove the rust?
Over time, the insulation layer either deteriorates or gets damaged, and corrosion inevitably occurs.
Silicone-aluminum powder heat-resistant paint can be used at temperatures below 600°C.
There are also paints that can withstand high temperatures of 1800°C; it depends on the application scenario.
