On March 13, the Ministry of Natural Resources released the \"2025 Statistical Bulletin on China’s Marine Economy.\" Preliminary estimates show that in 2025, the national marine economic output will amount to 11,018 billion yuan, representing a 5.5% increase compared to the previous year, and it will account for 7.9% of the gross domestic product. According to the communique, the marine chemical industry experienced rapid growth in 2025; prices of major chemicals declined while volumes increased. The industry’s added value for the whole year amounted to 538 billion yuan, representing a 6.7% increase compared with the previous year. Sea salt production grew steadily, with an added value of 3 billion yuan for the whole year, an increase of 3.5% compared to the previous year. Oceanic oil and gas production continued to rise; the output of marine crude oil and natural gas increased by 3.4% and 17.0% respectively compared with the previous year. The added value for the whole year amounted to 272 billion yuan, a 5.8% increase over the previous year. In terms of the three-sector industrial structure, the added value of the primary marine industry was 492.3 billion yuan, that of the secondary industry was 4,101.7 billion yuan, and that of the tertiary industry was 6,424 billion yuan; these figures accounted for 4.5%, 37.2%, and 58.3% of the total marine economic output, respectively.
