After being recycled for a period of time, the concentration of acid sludge in concentrated sulfuric acid increases. Some of this acid sludge can settle due to gravity in the sulfuric acid storage tank, while another portion remains mixed with the sulfuric acid during circulation. Over time, this can lead to deposits forming on pipes and valves, resulting in reduced flow rates; in severe cases, the deposited acid sludge may fall off and block the pipes or valves. I would like to ask experts whether there are any techniques available to separate concentrated sulfuric acid from its acid sludge, thereby reducing the amount of acid sludge present in the recycled acid. After concentration, the concentration of the recycled concentrated sulfuric acid is 92–93%; the main component of the acid sludge is ferrous sulfate, with small amounts of magnesium sulfate and calcium sulfate.

For concentrated sulfuric acid, the filtration method is not practical, while the sedimentation method can be used
We are currently using three storage tanks in an overflow operation: the first two are for sedimentation, and the third is for feeding, but the results are not yet very significant
