Do screw air compressors have solenoid valves at the inlet? Do these solenoid valves close during unloading? Then the solenoid valve closes, the air compressor continues to run – won’t the inlet of the housing be under negative pressure? Or in other words, can the air compressor still rotate with the inlet solenoid valve closed?
Generally, for units like Atlas, the valves are either fully open or fully closed; there are exceptions however – units from GD and Ingersoll Rand have a 15% adjustment range. When the unit is unloaded, the solenoid valves close, and of course the inlet valve also closes. But the valves are designed with small holes to prevent vacuum formation when the unit is unloaded, so you can use them with confidence without any risk of vacuum formation

However, these valves have small holes, so they aren’t completely closed; when the system is in a unloaded state, the unit operates with little load
