On December 5, Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. issued a tender announcement for the procurement of cycle gas compressor equipment for the vinyl acetate unit in Phase 1 of the project related to the clean and efficient conversion of coal on a scale of 15 million tons per year, which focuses on olefins, aromatics, and advanced processing. (Tender Number: 0866-24B2SXQY1103)Project Overview: Phase I of the 15 million tons/year Clean and Efficient Conversion of Coal Project by Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd., namely the Olefins, Aromatics and Deep Processing Project (hereinafter referred to as “Phase I Project”), builds upon the first phase of the project. Through the systematic integration of coal pyrolysis, coal/semi-coke gasification, and downstream deep processing technologies, it aims to further expand and extend the industrial chain, explore new pathways for the combined development of coal-based olefins and coal-based aromatics, and produce four categories of high-value-added products, including high-performance materials, battery electrolyte solvents, biodegradable materials, and special oils. This approach seeks to promote the advanced, diversified, and low-carbon development of the coal chemical industry. Following the principle of \"overall planning and phased implementation,\" phase-one projects are divided into phase-one projects and subsequent projects. The first-phase project primarily involves the construction of facilities for producing 5.6 million tons per year of coal-based methanol, as well as 1.48 million tons per year of methanol-to-olefins products, along with downstream processing units. These facilities will enable the production of 8 different types of products, including polyethylene, polypropylene, EVA, and SAP, in a total amount of 2.77 million tons per year. Scope of the tender: The procurement scope includes the design, structure, performance, manufacturing, packaging, painting, insulation, inspection, testing, acceptance, transportation and delivery, on-site installation and commissioning guidance, related technical services for one circulation gas compressor in the vinyl acetate plant and its auxiliary systems, as well as the spare parts, special tools, and technical documents required for its installation and maintenance. Vinyl acetate plant capacity: 200,000 tons per year of vinyl acetate, with a process operation flexibility of 50–120%. This includes all process units and auxiliary facilities within the red line that are necessary to meet production requirements, mainly including (but not limited to) vinyl acetate synthesis, vinyl acetate distillation, acetic acid deiodination, intermediate tank areas, refrigeration stations, plant substations, plant cabinet rooms, as well as public engineering systems and other necessary facilities within the boundary area. The procurement process for long-term equipment for Phase 1 of the Yulin Chemical Project Phase II has officially begun. With the launch of online bidding for the complete set of long-cycle equipment for air separation units, the project has entered a brand new stage of development. As a project with huge investment and high levels of public attention, the first phase of Yulin Chemical Phase II had a procurement cycle of only 134 days. In particular, the manufacturing period for the equipment of the EVA plant was as long as 32 months, spanning the entire duration of the project and serving as the key factor determining whether the project could be carried out successfully. Against this backdrop, to ensure the successful completion of the procurement of long-term-use equipment, Yulin Chemical has made multiple efforts to overcome the challenges involved. On October 15, the foundation design meeting and process package signing ceremony for the first phase of the olefins, aromatics, and deep processing project of Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 15 million tons per year demonstration project for clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products (hereinafter referred to as Phase 1 of Phase 2) was successfully held in Xi’an, marking the official entry of this project into the substantive design stage. Vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) is mainly used in the production of polyvinyl alcohol, EVA resin, polyvinyl acetate, VAE emulsions, ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymers, and others. Against the backdrop of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, the development of new materials such as EVA photovoltaic materials, EVOH, and PVB has driven the demand for high-quality vinyl acetate raw materials.
